Repair Estimate Second Opinion: What It Can and Cannot Tell You

A document-based second opinion can organize what the quote says and identify useful questions. It cannot inspect concealed conditions, verify workmanship, or replace an appropriate licensed professional.

What a review can clarify

Quoted scope, stated materials, labor, quantities, totals, warranties, exclusions, assumptions, and differences between uploaded estimates.

What it should not claim

A responsible review should not invent missing details, diagnose unseen conditions, accuse a contractor, guarantee savings, or tell you that onsite work is safe.

When one quote is enough

A one-quote review can help you understand a proposal and prepare questions. A deeper review can examine more detail in the same document.

When comparison helps

Two or three quotes can be compared for stated scope, price structure, omissions, tradeoffs, and value without assuming the cheapest is best.

What to have ready

Readable estimates, the complete pages you received, and any written revisions. Do not upload unrelated sensitive documents.

Educational, document-based information only. This is not an onsite inspection or legal, engineering, insurance, code-compliance, mechanical, or contracting advice. Missing information is identified rather than guessed.
